BugPile: Crowdfunding for GitHub Issues
Put your money where your bugs are. BugPile lets Free and Open Source Software users pool funds to incentivize the GitHub issues that matter most to them.
Currently in beta. Anyone can donate to an issue on BugPile (no account required), but FOSS maintainers will need to join our waitlist in order to collect donations for their own GitHub issues.

How BugPile Works
  1. 1 Repository maintainers submit their project to BugPile and approve specific issues for funding
  2. 2 Issues are automatically ranked by total funding received
  3. 3 Users donate money toward issues they want fixed or features they need
  4. 4 Maintainers see which issues have the most financial backing and can prioritize accordingly
  5. 5 When issues are closed, funding for those issues is also closed
All user contributions on BugPile are donations. This means that:
  • Maintainers have no formal obligation to resolve the funded GitHub issues in any particular time frame (or at all). The purpose of the funding is only to help encourage and prioritize the work.
  • Forwarding of payments to maintainers is not conditional upon resolving issues. All donations are immediately forwarded to maintainers, less Stripe payment processing fees (approx. 3%) and the BugPile platform fee (5%).
Calling all FOSS maintainers! Join the BugPile Beta Waitlist
Be among the first FOSS maintainers to fund your project on BugPile.
An account is not required to donate to issues on BugPile, but maintainers need an account in order to collect donations for their own GitHub issues.
During the closed beta period, we will gradually onboard maintainers as we work out the kinks in the platform.
We'll only use your email to notify you about BugPile's launch. No spam, ever.
